The first Mississippi Retina Vision Walk brought our community together in a powerful way. On Saturday, February 7th, runners, walkers, families, staff, and supporters gathered in Madison, Mississippi, united by a shared purpose: advancing research for retinal diseases that can lead to permanent vision loss.

Because of that incredible community support, more than $12,000 was raised for the Foundation Fighting Blindness, helping fund research focused on protecting and preserving sight for patients and families affected by retinal disease.

A Morning of Community and Commitment

From the first steps at the starting line to the final runners crossing under the finish arch, the energy throughout the morning reflected what makes this community so special.

Participants of all ages took part in the 5K walk and run, while children proudly lined up for the 1-Mile Fun Run. Families walked side by side. Friends cheered one another on. Staff members joined patients and community partners in a shared commitment to support vision research.

The event was not simply about completing a course. It was about showing up for a cause that impacts countless lives.

Supporting Research That Protects Sight

Retinal diseases can affect independence, daily activities, and long-term quality of life. Continued research is critical to developing new treatments, improving outcomes, and ultimately restoring hope to those facing vision-threatening conditions.

Funds raised through the Mississippi Retina Vision Walk directly support the work of the Foundation Fighting Blindness, a national nonprofit dedicated to advancing research for inherited retinal diseases, macular degeneration, and other conditions that can lead to permanent vision loss.

Every registration, sponsorship, and donation contributed to meaningful progress in the fight against blindness.

Gratitude for an Incredible Community

Mississippi Retina Associates extends sincere thanks to everyone who participated, volunteered, sponsored, and supported this event. The success of the Vision Walk reflects the strength of our patients, families, staff, and the greater Jackson metro community.

Seeing runners cross the finish line, children complete their first mile, and our team present a check for more than $12,000 was a reminder of what can be accomplished when a community rallies around a shared mission.

We are proud of what was achieved and grateful for every individual who helped make this inaugural Vision Walk such a success.
