A scratched eye can be painful and frustrating, but quick care can make a difference. If you suspect an eye scratch, don’t rub the eye. Gently flush it with clean water or saline and protect it until you can see an eye doctor. Watch for increasing pain, light sensitivity, or changes in vision, and seek care right away if these occur. Your eye health matters.

New Year’s celebrations should be joyful, not dangerous. Champagne corks can cause serious eye injuries if they pop unexpectedly. When opening a bottle, keep it pointed away from faces, cover the cork with a towel, and twist slowly to stay in control. If an eye injury does occur, seek urgent care right away. Protecting your vision helps ensure the new year starts safely.

Fresh powder, clear slopes, and eye protection. Don’t forget that last one! ❄️ Whether you are skiing, snowboarding, or enjoying winter sports this holiday season, protective eyewear is key to keeping your vision safe. At Mississippi Retina Associates, we remind our patients that impact-resistant goggles do more than block wind and snow. They also help prevent serious eye injuries. Stay safe, have fun, and see every moment clearly. #EyeSafety #WinterVision #ProtectYourEyes
