Our physicians are Board Certified by the American Academy of Ophthalmology and hold positions as fellows in the American College of Surgeons. Our doctors have each completed their surgical ophthalmology residency, as well as additional extensive fellowship training in the diagnosis and treatment of medical and surgical diseases of the retina and vitreous.

Michael Borne, M.D.
Dr. Michael Borne, a native of Oxford, Mississippi, received a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from the University of Mississippi. He graduated Cum Laude from the University of Mississippi Medical center and completed internship training in Birmingham, Alabama. He completed residency training in Ophthalmology and was chosen chief resident at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He completed two years of fellowship training in vitreoretinal surgery at Wills Eye Hospital. Dr. Borne has authored numerous scientific research publications and textbook chapters and is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Joel Herring, M.D.
Dr. Joel Herring, a native of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, received a Bachelor of Science degree from Mississippi State University. He completed his medical degree and ophthalmology residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
His fellowship training in vitreoretinal surgery was completed at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and he has participated in numerous research publications in association with the Helen Keller Foundation for Research and Education. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Bay Springs, Mississippi
Jay Brown, M.D.
Dr. Jay Brown, a native of Bay Springs, Mississippi, received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from the University of Mississippi, and he completed his medical degree and Ophthalmology residency at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine, where he was presented with an Award for Excellence in Ophthalmology studies.
His retina fellowship was completed at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and he is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.

Dr. David Kilpatrick, a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, graduated summa cum laude from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He completed his medical degree at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans where he was selected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. His ophthalmology residency was completed at the University of Mississippi Medical Center where he served as Chief Resident. Dr. Kilpatrick completed a two year fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery with Retina Consultants of Alabama and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
