WHAT AT EXPECT DURING YOUR VISIT
Appointments at Mississippi Retina Associates are conveniently available Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Please note that weekend appointments are not offered at this time.
To initiate a new patient consultation, we kindly request coordination through your primary eye doctor, along with approval from your primary care physician or as stipulated by your insurance provider.
As specialists solely dedicated to diseases and surgeries of the retina, our focus does not extend to prescribing glasses or contact lenses. Upon your arrival for your scheduled appointment, our welcoming staff will efficiently update your contact and insurance information. To expedite the registration process, we recommend having your identification and insurance card readily available.
In preparation for your visit, please complete our New Patient Registration paperwork, which is essential for establishing your medical chart. For your convenience, we encourage you to print and fill out these documents before your appointment.
We eagerly anticipate welcoming you to Mississippi Retina Associates and are committed to providing exceptional care tailored to your needs.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR VISIT
At Mississippi Retina, we prioritize providing clear expectations for your appointment, ensuring your comfort and care remain our top priorities. During your initial visit, which may exceed 2 hours depending on the complexity of your needs, we aim to streamline the process by performing all necessary services in our offices. This comprehensive approach eliminates the need for multiple appointments, with results of essential testing typically available on the same day. For cases requiring special diagnostic testing or treatment, your time in our office may extend to 3 hours or more.
As part of your retinal examination, pupil dilation is necessary at each visit. While this may temporarily blur your vision for up to 6 hours and increase sensitivity to light, our team ensures your comfort by providing disposable sunglasses and assistance with transportation if needed.
Upon arrival, a technician will greet you and document your current medical needs and detailed ocular and medical history. It’s beneficial to have the names and contact information of your eye care providers on hand, enabling us to keep them informed about your diagnosis and treatment. Following initial assessments, including vision and intraocular pressure measurements, your physician will conduct a thorough ophthalmologic and vitreoretinal examination. Additional diagnostic testing may be performed as required.
Once your examination and tests are complete, your physician will meticulously explain the results and discuss a personalized course of action with you. We ensure ample time for addressing all your questions and concerns, and a comprehensive consultation report will be shared with your referring eye doctor and medical physician.
