At Mississippi Retina Associates, caring for our community extends beyond the patients we see in our offices. Our commitment to improving lives is reflected not only in the specialized retinal care we provide, but also in the time and energy our team dedicates to supporting neighbors throughout Mississippi. On September 25, 2026, members of the Mississippi Retina Associates team volunteered with Shower Power, a Jackson-based nonprofit organization dedicated to helping individuals experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity. Our team joined other volunteers to help distribute meals and support an important community outreach effort.
Supporting Shower Power’s Mission in Jackson
Shower Power works to meet essential needs for individuals experiencing homelessness by providing access to showers, clean clothing, hygiene supplies, food, and other resources. Through its outreach efforts, the organization helps individuals access practical necessities while fostering an environment of dignity, compassion, and respect.
For individuals facing housing instability, access to basic hygiene facilities and regular meals can be challenging. Community organizations like Shower Power help address these immediate needs while creating opportunities for meaningful human connection.
Mississippi Retina Associates was pleased to take part in this effort, joining volunteers who share a commitment to supporting vulnerable members of the Jackson community.
Mississippi Retina Associates Team Members Volunteer to Serve Meals
During the September outreach event, Mississippi Retina Associates team members worked together to help organize and distribute boxed meals to community members.
The volunteer effort brought members of our team together outside their usual clinical and administrative responsibilities, providing an opportunity to serve others in a different but equally meaningful way. From preparing meals for distribution to interacting with attendees and fellow volunteers, the experience reflected the teamwork, compassion, and dedication that our employees bring to their work every day.
We are proud of our team members who took time to participate and contribute to an organization making a positive difference in the Jackson area.
